Saints vs. Patriots – A Matchup of the Ages
The 7-3 New England Patriots visit the Superdome to face the 10-0 New Orleans Saints in the most highly anticipated home game since the 2006 Falcons game. The Saints and Patriots are both coming off big division wins against Tampa Bay and New York respectively. For a Monday Night matchup, it really doesn’t get much better than this. I’ve highlighted a few key matchups to keep an eye on. Wes Welker/Randy Moss vs. Saints cornerbacks: ‘Dangerous’ doesn’t begin to... Read More
When is enough enough?
Given the inexplicable incompetence displayed in Oxford this past weekend, many LSU football fans are demanding an end to the Miles era. Just two years removed from a national championship, can the ineptitude shown in a single game really warrant termination? Miles’ detractors will argue that this is the culmination of many events; that beyond all the W’s something atrocious was slightly underneath the surface and LSU would eventually suffer the consequence. It... Read More
summary in a text
This an actual text from my brother right after the LSU game yesterday. We would later have probably the most heated conversation about LSU football since the time he actually had to stop me from stabbing Rick Clausen after we blew the Monday night game against the Vols at home. I thought about making a whole post and I might eventually, but i tried last night and started to cry. Anyway, here’s the text that I think sums it up. Me: I dont know what to say. Brother: WOW.... Game Blog
I made this Game Blog….Its just stream of consciousness and done while I was trying to watch the game with a rowdy bunch of people. There have been no edits. I got pretty irritated, sorry for any offensive language. LSU OLE MISS LIVE BLOG THOUGHTS 2:29- optimistic, probably because mccluster hasn’t touched the ball yet. 2:37- FUMBLLEEEEEE- That’s why you’re Ole Miss (we’re going to do a THYOM count- 1) 2:38- Mccluster, first touch, 57 yards, Chad Jones with the worst... And You Thought This Was The Most Offensive Thing You Would See In Oxford…
“Even the nice people I know…… their facebook statuses say he should be fired too…” -Amanda Pendleton I laugh because otherwise I would cry. There will be no in depth analysis of this right now. Words just don’t cut it. Read More
A new hope?….maybe, but probably not
When I first heard the news of Byron Scott’s firing I was upset. I thought (and still do) that he was the scapegoat only because the Hornets could do nothing else. They cannot add any talent because they are over the luxury tax, making their current financial situation barely sustainable. No one will trade them for their expiring contracts because other NBA teams will not pay Peja 14.5 mil, Mo Pete 6.5 mil, or pay 6 mil to the guy that walks around on the floor for 10... Read More
Homefield Advantage?
The Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field. The icy chill of Heinz Field. The climate-controlled 60 degrees of the Metrodome. Two of these three statements strike fear in the hearts of opposing teams once December and January roll around. The other? Well, let’s just say most teams enjoy being able to feel their hands in the wintertime. The Metrodome, built in 1982 and home of the Minnesota Vikings, provides fans relief from the frigid Minnesota winter. The question... Read More
Enjoy the Lovely Gift Basket
The New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts engaged in another memorable matchup Sunday night. It’s too bad the game will be remembered not for the great quarterback dual of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, but instead the 4th quarter decision by Patriots Coach Bill Belichick that wound up deciding the game. For those who missed it, let me set up the situation. With 2:23 left on the clock and Indianapolis just scoring a touchdown to cut the New England lead to 34-28,... Read More
DERAILED
The train has officially gone off the track. Byron Scott was fired today as coach of the New Orleans Hornets. His demise was imminent through the first nine games this season, especially in last night’s 124-104 loss to the Phoenix Suns. The Hornets were terrible defensively, often allowing the Suns perimeter players to hit uncontested 3-point shots. The Hornets’ post players were repeatedly beat on the pick and roll. Most of all, the overall demeanor of the team... Read More
What are we talking about again?
“When I hear anything about the Memphis Grizzlies, I don’t hear you guys talk about anything other than the situation with me coming off the bench. I mean, there’s got to be something else with this team to talk about besides that. But I guess that sells a lot better than anything else when it comes to this team.” -Allen Iverson I like Allen Iverson. I really do. I appreciate his honesty, I appreciate his absolute belief in himself, and most of all I appreciate... Read More
